Anyone who has either finished Module 19, or has an idea of the topic, feel free to answer.
I am always confused on if we need to add Vinyasas in a Ashtanga Vinyasa class.
In the course, there are linking vinyasas in Sitting and closing poses, but none in the standing poses.. So my question is:
is a Ashtanga class design WITHOUT linking Vinyasas acceptable or not for Module 19 final exam?

In the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga series, vinyasas are an integral part of the system.
The standing sequence is considered a single, linked sequence… however, it is true that additional vinyasas are not added between individual standing postures, as is often done in general vinyasa classes or within the seated/finishing sequence.

Please keep in mind that Ashtanga practice follows a predetermined series with a fixed order and set transitions. While minor adaptations may be made, such as omitting certain postures or making them more accessible, the overall structure and sequencing remain consistent.

For the Module 19 final exam, you may choose to design your own vinyasa-based sequence. I personally recommend using one of the written class plans that has already been corrected by your mentor teacher. If you choose to present an Ashtanga-based sequence, it must follow the structure exactly as presented in the course. At the same time, you are required to include an introduction, centering, pranayama, and a warm-up before beginning the Sun Salutations. Please also note that, in order to fit the class into a 60 mins, some postures may need to be removed… however, the overall order of the sequence must be maintained.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, you may consult your mentor directly, she will be happy to assist you.

Warm regards,
Angie
