Matsyendranath is one of the most revered ancient Yogis and one of the founding Gurus of Hatha Yoga practices. He is the founder of the Nath Clan of Swamis, the oldest monastic order in the world.
The legend goes that once Shiva was teaching Yoga to his wife Parvati on an island. After a while he realised that there was a Fish listening to him and learning. Seeing it’s interest, he gave it a boon to be born as an adept Yogi — and that human being was Matsyendranath.
