Shashankasana Or Sharnaghat Mudra

  • ‘Shashank’ means rabbit and the asana is very similar to Balasana (child’s pose) when it is done to relax your back muscles
  • When it is done to bring about a sense of peace and surrender, it is then called as a mudra or a gesture. ‘Sharnaghat’ refers to surrender, so, Surrender Gesture.
    This pose is often used in places of worship as the people praying come into a state of surrender to a higher power. 
  • Good stretch and relaxation for the back muscles
  • Applies a beneficial stress on the internal organs and that aids in digestion
